Linguicide

Linguicide (possibly spelled Linguacide - need to check etymology) translates literally into "tongue killing." It means language murder, and it has many synonyms. Webster, for example, employs the "word laundry" technique, calling it "linguistic evolution," somehow suggesting that murdered terms simply weren't fit to survive their onslaught. (That sounds much like a serial murderer arguing in court that a victim wasn't murdered, but rather failed the evolutionary test, and is no longer with us.)
